Absences from school

If your child is unable to attend school for any reason please let us know by completing our online sickness form, telephoning or e-mailing the school office. On your child’s return to school please confirm the reason for the absence with a written note addressed to the class teacher. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea we ask that they do not return to school for 48 hours as this type of illness can be very infectious.

Report Absence

To report your child absent from school the below form must be completed in full on the first day of absence, detailing the absence and expected return date for your child

A number of strategies are used to encourage and celebrate high levels of attendance and punctuality e.g. a weekly attendance reward for the highest attending class with the highest attendance of the week in the Celebration Assembly, class attendance display in the school hall, sharing attendance figures at all parent consultation meetings and regular monitoring meetings with the Local Authority Education Welfare Officer

Holidays During Term Time

From the 18th April 2017 the DfE have issued new guidelines:  Any parent who takes a child out of school for term time leave of more than 6 consecutive sessions over a 4 week period, not authorised by the school (under exceptional circumstances rule), may receive a Penalty Notice. Such cases will have to be supported by evidence of previous unauthorised term time leave (more than 6 consecutive sessions over a 4 week period) taken in the last 3 years and evidence of parents being warned about a potential Penalty Notice.

A paper copy of our Attendance Policy, and leave of absence request form are also available to download.
